The primary objectives of the CMW are to mitigate for the loss of wetlands and associated habitats as part of the remedial measures at Site 1 and to increase the areal extent and function of wetlands on the perimeter of San Francisco Bay that were lost due to historical development.

Bayside employees performed literature reviews and archival records searches, conducted biological surveys and habitat assessments for special status species, focused surveys , and delineated wetlands and waters within the study area.

Bayside support included sampling munitions constituents, excavation and mechanical screening of the soil, digital geophysical mapping of the excavated areas, subsurface clearance of identified targets, and backfill of excavated areas with screened soil.
